Anonymously from Keauhou Harbor:
"The pier is finished, after about 2 years of living without it. The launch ramps however, as you can see, are in serious disrepair. During high tides and surge, this side is not useable unless you want to leave behind the gel coat. Now the heads."
"It is my understanding, but only thru hearsay, that even while not complete, the majority of the work that was done was accomplished by volunteer labor from those that use the area. Apparently, the state does not have the funds to complete the project. It is true that Keauhou Bay has been without real restrooms for 3 years. You can see from the reality photos what users and guests of the area get in lieu of finished restrooms."
"I do not know the numbers of ramp permitted boaters that use the area, but there are Several rafting companies, Seaquest, Dolphin Discoveries, kayak companies, Sea Paradise Dive Company, Hawaiian Boat Rentals and Fairwinds. Let's put it this way, on any given day, we have 200 or more guests, not to mention the local community using these facilities. 2 (two) port a potties just doesn't cut it."
